The assistant is the first point of contact in the practice. You can contact her for triage and medical advice (the assistant is trained in this and uses the ‘triage guide’ of the Dutch College of General Practitioners), for making appointments, for practical questions, and for repeat prescriptions. The assistant can also help you, by appointment, with minor medical procedures, such as:
- Measuring bloodpressure
- Touching warts (except genital and facial warts)
- Ear syringing
- Removing stitches
- Urinalysis
- Certain injections (e.g. Tetanus and Vitamin B12)
- STD test
- Smear test (cervical cancer screening programme)
